Froggy's Trip to Rehab!
Froggy went to rehab-yes, yes, yes------and all were pleased with his progress, especially me. Kyer Phillips at Dogs and Cats Referral went through a few new paces for us to do at home to work on that left leg that he still does not want to use, but he is able so we're going to work on that. We want him to be all that he can be and Kyer and Dr. Snakard thinks with work he can use that stiff left leg for more than just a crutch. He's taking 2 and sometimes 3, ten minute walks a day and 3 PT sessions at home a day. He'll be going back for more rehabilitation therapy with Kyer next Thursday and once a week for a while yet. He's a willing patient and he's making this a social function. They all like him because he's special.

Froggy is on the Mend!
My Lucky Dog "Froggy" is the best dog in the world. He's in his 2nd week of recovery from double hip/leg surgery and he's taking it like a champ. He's taking his physical therapy in stride and is so patient with all the reps I put him through and seldom complains. On last Wednesday when I took him in for his first session on rehabilitation with the technician at Dogs and Cats Referral, he thought it was a social occasion instead of a trip back to the location of a very bad experience. Any other dog would be scared to go back there. That says a lot about this special dogs disposition but I think it also says a lot more about the staff there. Accolades all around.
He compensates for anything most of us would consider a disability and has proven himself quite an acrobat as demonstrated in the waiting room of Dogs and Cats -- only 5 days after his surgery. After greeting everyone in the waiting room with his wagging pom-pom tail, he scooted to the middle of the floor, balanced himself on his two front legs and flooded the area. He then walked on his two front legs a few steps out of the flood area and sat and waited for me to pick him up. I was pretty happy to see this because I had started to worry that he had an elimination problem. Problem solved with his acrobatic skills now at work. No problems with "taking care of business" since, and at home, in the appropriate places. Good dog!!
He went back to see Dr. Snakard today for his 2 week check-up, got his staples out and got an excellent progress report. She's very pleased at how well he's doing and he's starting his 2 ten minute walks a day. He'll like that, being the social animal he is. Didn't take this smart dog long to find out just where that back gate is. He gets to go back to see those nice people at Dogs and Cats that he likes so much, once a week for rehab right now until he learns to use those muscles again in his left leg.
This special dog just grabs every body's heart. He totally has mine. Everyone is just amazed at his disposition and spirit. I feel like the lucky one.
