Sometimes a dog needs a little extra Luck to get by... Froggy is one such dog. But to understand what a miraculous journey this little dog has had so far ... and to understand how far he has to go still, we need to go back to the beginning.
One of our volunteers in rural South Carolina found Froggy sitting in a shelter, matted, dirty and flea ridden. (See picture on the right). Froggy was in such bad shape, our volunteer could tell that he was limping, but not the extent of the damage. She pulled him from the shelter and took him home for some TLC.
A local groomer took pity on poor Froggy and gave him a new hair cut (see top picture -- isn't he handsome!) And, while her amazing work gave Froggy a fresh start, it also revealed a troubling development: his left leg appeared to be sticking out at a 45 degree angle. Realizing something could be very wrong, we sent him for x-rays.
Dr Ross (at Foxnest Veterinary Clinic) took x-rays of Froggy and more bad news followed. He had not one, but TWO, broken legs. He would need to see a specialist when he got to Washington. Dr Ross predicted that surgery was in Froggy's future.
This, of course, created a dilemma... Lucky Dog absolutely wanted to do the right thing for Froggy, but being a non-profit animal rescue, funds were limited. We knew we needed more information.
On June 19th Froggy made the long trip to DC, along with about 40 or so other Lucky Dogs. (See transport pictures!). He was welcomed into a loving foster home and went to the adoption event the very next day at the Rockville Petco. There Froggy's luck picked up. He met a wonderful adopter who was willing to help Froggy heal! All Lucky Dog (and Froggy) needed now was the money for the surgery...
